Valle dei Casali: The Charm of Textured Surfaces
How can you create a dialogue between the interior and exterior in a contemporary penthouse?
In the Valle dei Casali project, designed by MOB Architects, indoor and outdoor spaces blend into a fluid narrative in which the boundaries between inside and outside disappear.
Architecture does more than just organize space; it creates experiences.

The terrace, featuring an infinity pool and a wellness area, blends seamlessly with the interior spaces through visual and textural continuity, where every surface is designed to reflect light and enhance sensory experiences.
The result is a design in which the materials create visual continuity between the various spaces, each designed to be enjoyed at any time of day—whether for social gatherings, studying, or relaxation.
Quarzite Blue Deep, spectacular and high-performance
The Quarzite Blue Deep, sourced from Brazil, plays a central role in the project as a visually striking and high-performance material.

Blue Deep Quartzite introduces an almost painterly dimension with its veining in shades of blue, brown, and gold, creating a dynamic and sophisticated visual impact that makes every application unique.
Its many chromatic facets offer excellent inspiration for various design ideas, given that its veining is reminiscent of the rock faces found in nature.

Used for the bioethanol fireplace, the central table, and the waterfall-style wall that emerges from the outdoor pool, this stone transforms functional elements into unique architectural details.

When used as a cladding material, this natural quartzite fully showcases its elegant texture. Ideal for creating built-in sinks and surfaces that flow seamlessly into the walls, it creates a clean, sophisticated look that enhances the space with a strong architectural impact.
Its appeal isn’t just aesthetic. Why choose it:
- Heat and Wear Resistance → ideal for kitchen countertops and high-traffic surfaces
- Superior durability → can it be scratched or etched? Quartzite is twice as hard as glass, making it an excellent choice for surfaces subject to daily wear and tear
- Indoor/Outdoor Versatility → perfect for creating a seamless design transition between indoor and outdoor spaces
- Low absorbency → easy maintenance
Backlit Patagonia: The Stone That Glows

In the master bathroom, the material is transformed into light. The shower wall in Patagonia retroilluminato it is designed as a vibrant, almost immaterial surface. This natural quartzite, also from Brazil, features semi-translucent areas that, when illuminated by rear LEDs, create a unique visual effect: the stone lights up, revealing its veining.
The benefits of Patagonia:
Each slab is unique and one-of-a-kind, like a natural work of art destined to stand the test of time, durable yet surprisingly delicate to the eye.
- It is also suitable for use in the shower if designed correctly: protective sealing, carefully finished joints, and backlighting with components suitable for humid environments and uniform lighting.
- Immersive lighting effect: Using this material in the bathroom can create a striking aesthetic and the feeling of being pampered at a spa, thanks to the iridescent effect of Patagonia’s surfaces. Because it is translucent, light passing through it creates a magical yet relaxing atmosphere. By playing with subtle shades, you can create unique and ever-changing spaces even when using the same material.
- Longevity: It is a long-lasting material that withstands the test of time while retaining its natural beauty. Durability: It is a highly durable stone that is resistant to scratches, chips, and impacts.
- High resistance to acids.
Grigio Perla, natural Elegance for Outdoor Spaces
Outside, the infinity pool becomes the centerpiece of the terrace, flanked by lounge areas, a barbecue area, and an open-air shower.

The Grigio Perla, a Tuscan sandstone with light, luminous hues, is used as the pool edging.
Its technical qualities – frost resistance, slip-resistant properties, and long-term stability – combine with a understated aesthetic presence that harmonizes with wood, water, and light. Thanks to its elegant neutrality, it integrates perfectly with materials such as wood and terracotta, adapting to both contemporary and more traditional settings.
