The precious marble extracted from the quarries of Iran makes its debut in Italy, in the universe of natural stones at the service of architectural projects.
A highly scenic material for valuable home design projects which give personality to indoor and outdoor environments. Each slab appears as a true work of art created by nature.
The marble quarries of ancient Persia

Ancient Persia is a territory that seems out of time, where the fiery red profiles of the mountain ranges stand out on the slopes of the marble quarries. The characteristics blue-tinted streaks create original textures that hypnotize the gaze, investigating the authentic soul of this refined material. Following its plots, we enter a world suspended between the Arabian Nights and the traces of great cultures, from Zoroaster to the Mongol kings, going towards the Silk Road.

In fact, Iran is considered as the cradle of natural stones in the world, because it has numerous marble, travertine and onyx quarries. It is the second richest country in terms of natural stone resources; the first in the world, with 4.7 million tons of natural stones of different varieties in colour, quality and workmanship. The most important marble quarries are in the towns of Isfahan (Najaf Abad), Yazd, Fars (Dehbid) and in the province of Lorestan (Aligudarz).
Marble from ancient times to today
Since ancient times, Marble has been the most used material in architecture all around the world. Among the most famous structures made of marble there are national monuments of ancient times as well as of today. From the Taj Mahal, made of white Indian marble; to the fascinating sculptures by Michelangelo, in Carrara marble. Since marble is a natural stone, each slab is unique and it is not possible to find two slabs with the same design.

Ilago in architectural projects

Ilago offers designers the possibility of taking advantage of a marble with a scenographic impact that conquers with its elegance whispered in the infinite shades of blue. With an attractive design full of visual strength, it crosses sumptuous veins giving the environment a sophisticated atmosphere, according to the most appreciated trends of contemporary design.
Blue marble had its renaissance starting from the Baroque period, when it was used to enrich monuments, churches and architectural works with the aim of giving it a unique character. Today it is used for various types of coverings: from floors to walls, to kitchen tops and bathrooms. The marble elements, with their characteristic veins, create naturally iridescent effects.
In the specific of Ilago, the visually relaxing colour instills a sensation of relaxation and serenity to the spaces, evoking the pleasant sensation of flowing water in the bathroom in particular. A marble with a non-uniform colour, boasting a surface as if in eternal movement and dynamism. The most suitable colour combinations are created with similar cold colours, or by choosing furnishing accessories in warm contrasting nuances.
We also have to consider the matching with the furniture and other trendy materials in the contemporary architecture projects, such as black terracotta and Bucchero, which come from the craftsmanship through the use of clays and different minerals, with cooking in special ovens. Due to the intense dark and bold tone, they create an immediate visual impact, giving the rooms extreme refinement and contemporary charm.
Bucchero is strong in ancient knowledge, worked with traditional techniques such as modeling by hand, on the lathe, through phases such as forging, drying and burnishing. The last step concerns cooking, in special ovens at a temperature above 900° with an oxygen-free atmosphere in such a way that the combustion of wood creates carbon monoxide and, combined with the red ferric oxide of the clay, transforms it giving that is the typical dark color. The particular clay cooked in the oven in the absence of oxygenation, can be shaped by ancient manual skills, becoming the expression of a strong decorative ability.
In home design, a special attraction comes from the UNIQUE furnishing accessories: items that create an immediate visual impact, to be shown and displayed, as well as functional.
The artisan charm of homemade terracotta gives life to lamps of great character, designed by Progetto Nudo and made by Lightdrops, a leading company for the creation and supply of tailor-made lighting fixtures. They are unique furnishing accessories that are the expression of a strong decorative ability capable of giving personality to environments in the wake of a thousand-year tradition mixed with experimentation. Original, unique and unrepeatable items.

Blue marble can be usually matched with furnishing accessories and items that best emphasize the aesthetics of marble. Another interesting combination is with fine wood: the two materials blend perfectly, even in classic style environments thanks to continuous surface floors. A new way of conceiving interior design is the floor without any joints, which allows you to combine classic, modern, industrial and rustic styles, creating trendy contrasts much loved in contemporary design. Resistant to wear and with minimal thickness, the continuous surfaces can be customized: in the background colour and above all with different types of marble, effectively creating your own recipe.
With a surprising effect, blue marble can also be used to create kitchen tops, giving uniqueness to the environment, with the sinuous veins typical of the precious material which furnish the space thanks to its chromatic intensity, accompanying the gestures of everyday life.
As s partner of a new architectural projects, Krei in collaboration with the architect Carlo Magoni has selected Ilago marble, in agreement with the client for an exclusive Roman residence where it will be used to create a big shower and a tailor-made washbasin, combined with a covering, also for the flooring, in classic Roman travertine.
