One of the most used materials in modern construction is porcelain stoneware.

What is porcelain stoneware? Porcelain stoneware is a compact and hard, colored and non-porous ceramic.
The “stoneware” consists in the vitrification of the ceramic mass of the tile, or its exceptional compactness, from which the exceptional resistance derives.
The result obtained is that of a mixture of lean clay, not very refractory, which is baked in the oven at remarkably high temperatures, around 1200-1400 ° C, to the point of reaching a state of non-porous vitrification and impermeability.

Thanks to this vitreous structure dictated by the high firing temperatures, porcelain stoneware has a structure such that it cannot absorb water, or rather, it has a low absorption coefficient, less than 0.5%, thus making it a somewhat waterproof material and especially suitable for outdoor use.
In addition to its resistance to water absorption, porcelain stoneware also has several other characteristics, which explain why the requests for porcelain stoneware are increasingly on the rise.

These include marble-effect porcelain stoneware, where beauty and practicality meet and merge in a single slab.
The marble-effect porcelain stoneware slabs faithfully reproduce the most sought-after and loved marbles in the world, thus presenting a rich range of colors and shades.
With marble-effect porcelain stoneware, masterpieces are created, starting from the raw materials of the same stoneware, up to the uniqueness of the veins that are never the same and unique of their kind in marble.

So what is porcelain stoneware?
A material that combines aesthetics, practicality and respect for the environment.

Let’s not forget that the same machines used for marble are now used for cutting stoneware.
The waterjet, also called “water jet cutting”, is certainly the best for obtaining maximum precision cuts.
Porcelain stoneware is resistant to abrasion, or wear due to contact.
Stoneware is a material that resists foot traffic very well and does not scratch if bumped by a noticeably harder body.
For this reason it is suitable not only for interiors, but also for exteriors and even in areas with a high density of pedestrian traffic.

The resistance of porcelain stoneware makes it also a material that is insensitive to sudden changes in temperature and therefore resistant to both fire and frost, thanks to its almost completely absent porosity.
Suitable for both outdoor, with adverse weather conditions and both indoor, in contact with hot pots and stoves.
Also, in the event of a fire, this material does not burn, nor does it produce toxic gases or fumes.

Thanks to these characteristics of resistance to abrasion and sudden changes in temperature, porcelain stoneware, like marble, is destined to last over time, remaining unaltered.

Feature that makes it an investment to be taken into consideration.

One of the questions that may arise when choosing a material is its cleaning routine and how easily it could get dirty. Porcelain stoneware in this is prepared.
As previously mentioned, porcelain stoneware has a very little porous structure, a characteristic that makes it a clean material that does not stain easily because it does not absorb dirt. The compactness of the surface also makes it easy to clean.

For the cleaning routine it is always suggested to use natural detergents, in order to keep it aesthetically unchanged for as long as possible.

Porcelain stoneware is an ecological material.
That’s right, this material respects the environment.
The materials that make up porcelain stoneware are natural and thanks to its innate characteristics, it does not require chemical agents to make it waterproof or even resins or paints that would make it harmful to health and the environment. Furthermore, it does not release Randon or other harmful gases and in contact with heat sources it does not emit toxic gases.

Porcelain stoneware is therefore extremely resistant, hygienic and has an elegant aesthetic given by its vitrified surface which makes it completely water-repellent and with high mechanical resistance characteristics.
In addition, porcelain stoneware stands out from other materials for its high surface hardness, high resistance to loads and high wear resistance.
