Interior of the Capitoline House, Rome

An apartment in the centre of Rome, in one of the oldest buildings in the City overlooking the Tiber river, inhabited by Fabio Massimo Bongianni, successful chef of a renowned restaurant near the Trevi fountain.
A research and support work for the R2L architectural firm of architects Sara and Marco Lucci from Rome, engaged in the renovation of the interiors, coordinating the development of customized furnishing solutions.
The goal of the project was to reorganize the rooms so that the “Roman-like” character was evident.

For the Interior of the Capitoline House in Rome, it was decided to keep the terracotta floor, handcrafted but not historic, in its naturalness by proceeding with recovery with careful brushing and cleaning followed by washing with an acid solution and special machinery.
Then treating the surface after drying in order to make it water-oil repellent, with a subsequent satin finish agreed with the client and architectural firm.

The fake wooden fireplace frontally covered with an extra cloudy onyx slab, selected from Fratelli Marmo of Montefiascone (VT) and numerous furnishing accessories, such as centerpieces, candelabras and a lamp (Pyramis by It’s Stone) made of basalt stone.

For the cladding of the kitchen island, we chose a decorative stucco, applied manually with horizontal fil pose textures, patinated and finished with metallic leaf partitions. Particularly relevant was the intervention of creation of the bas-reliefs present in the house inspired by the warps and wefts of ancient tapestries with precious accents finished with metal leaf.
